Mines game online: Spribe's 5×5 grid, 97% RTP and the odds of every pick
This page is about Mines, the casino grid game — the relative of Minesweeper where every tile hides a star or a mine. You'll find Spribe's rules, the exact chance of surviving each pick with 1, 3, 5 or 10 mines, the free demo and the casinos that carry it. With 3 mines, your first pick is safe 88% of the time.

How Mines works
Spribe sums it up in two lines: "Each tile hides either a star or a mine," and "you can cash out after each turn, or try for increased winnings"[2]. In practice:
- Choose your bet and how many mines hide in the 25-tile grid[4].
- Open a tile — or press "pick randomly". A star raises the payout multiplier.
- After every star, choose: cash out now, or open another tile.
- Hit a mine and the round ends with the bet lost.
Spribe's Mines has a 97% return, runs on desktop, tablet and phone, and includes auto play plus the chat and live-bets panel of its other games[1]. The 97% is Spribe's published figure; the rules screen inside the game at your casino shows the RTP that casino runs.
The odds of every pick
Our checklist: 3 of 6. Spribe publishes the RTP, the controls and a free demo; the grid size and limits come from casino pages, and the multiplier table and fairness method aren't on the game page. How the count works.
Mines is the rare casino game where you can count the odds on your fingers. With m mines among 25 tiles, the chance that your first k picks are all stars is the number of safe combinations divided by all combinations. Here it is worked out:
| Mines | 1 pick | 2 picks | 3 picks | 5 picks | 8 picks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 96.0% | 92.0% | 88.0% | 80.0% | 68.0% |
| 3 | 88.0% | 77.0% | 67.0% | 49.6% | 29.6% |
| 5 | 80.0% | 63.3% | 49.6% | 29.2% | 11.6% |
| 10 | 60.0% | 35.0% | 19.8% | 5.7% | 0.59% |
And the other side of the same numbers — the multiplier a round would have to pay just to break even on average at that point:
| Mines | 1 pick | 2 picks | 3 picks | 5 picks | 8 picks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.04× | 1.09× | 1.14× | 1.25× | 1.47× |
| 3 | 1.14× | 1.30× | 1.49× | 2.02× | 3.38× |
| 5 | 1.25× | 1.58× | 2.02× | 3.43× | 8.59× |
| 10 | 1.67× | 2.86× | 5.05× | 17.69× | 168.08× |
How many mines to choose
The mine count sets the size of each step. With 1 mine, five picks in a row survive 80% of the time and the multiplier creeps up. With 10 mines, five picks survive under 6% of the time — but the round climbs fast. At a 97% return, neither choice beats the other; they only change how often you win and by how much.
Two habits make the maths easier to live with: decide your cash-out point before the round (for example, "3 mines, cash out after 3 stars") and never "chase" a lost round with a bigger bet. Mines is fast, and a session can run through a budget quickly.

Free Mines demo
The demo is served by Spribe from its own server. It uses play credits, not money, and loads only when you press the button.
Spribe's own demo with a demo balance[3]. Try the same number of picks with 1 mine and with 10 — the table above tells you what to expect, and the demo shows how it feels.
My verdict
Mines is the most transparent game on this site after Plinko: you can see your odds change with every tile, and Spribe's 97% return is published. I'd pick a mine count and a cash-out point before each round and stick to them. For real money, Winz carries the Spribe version this page describes.

Mines questions
Can I play the Mines game for free?
Yes. Spribe publishes a free demo of its Mines that plays with a demo balance. You can load it on this page without an account.
Is Mines a legit game?
Spribe's Mines is a studio game with a published 97% RTP, carried by casinos such as Winz. Casinos also run their own "Originals" versions — BitStarz and Stake have one each — so check whose Mines you are opening.
What is the mine game called?
In casinos it's usually just "Mines". It borrows the grid and the mines from Minesweeper, the computer puzzle, but there are no numbers to help: each tile hides a star or a mine.
Do Mines signals or predictors work?
No. The positions of the mines are set by the game for each round, and no outside app can see them. Every safe tile you open changes the odds of the next one, which our table shows exactly.
Can I download the Mines game?
You don't need to. Mines runs in the phone browser, both in Spribe's demo and inside casinos. Downloaded "Mines" APK files don't come from the studio.
Minesweeper, the classic puzzle, is covered on our same name, different thing page. More fast games: Plinko in Canada · Aviator · chicken crash games.
